220 LB BOAR | MOHAKA FOREST, HAWKE’S BAY | 2009
Caught in 2009 by Charlie Batt, this 220 lb boar came out of Mohaka Forest in Hawke’s Bay — a region known for its rugged terrain, native bush, and the mighty Mohaka River.
Charlie’s dogs found and bailed the boar deep in the bush, leaving him with a backbreaking carry to get it out to the truck.
The dogs: Kaia (pictured left) — an exceptional finder who put more than a few 200 lb-plus boars on the ground in her time — and Mac (pictured right), an American Bulldog cross.
